On July 28, 2025, the Government of Canada announced a major initiative aimed at reducing transportation costs and improving affordability for Atlantic Canadians. As part of this effort, Marine Atlantic fares for passengers and passenger vehicles have been reduced by 50%, making ferry travel more accessible for residents, businesses, and visitors.
Passengers with an existing reservation for travel after August 1, 2025, will receive a refund for the price difference resulting from the newly reduced fares. Refunds will be processed in sequential order based on travel date.

Refunds will be processed in order based on travel date, with earlier travel dates being refunded first. This refund will be applied to the original method of payment. All refunds will be issued by September 1, 2025.

Passengers who have already booked a sailing for travel on or after August 1, 2025, will automatically receive a refund on the eligible reduced portion of their booking. The refund will be applied to the original form of payment by September 1, 2025. A phone call or email is not required to receive the refund.
