Marine Atlantic to Reduce Passenger Limit effective April 1

St. John’s, NL – The COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve and change daily. As such, Marine Atlantic is also making changes based upon the advice of health professionals.

Effective April 1, 2020, Marine Atlantic will implement the following changes:

  • A passenger limit of 100 per crossing will be introduced. This new limit will further promote social distancing and isolation activities.
  • Enhanced screening measures will be introduced denying passage to anyone exhibiting potential signs of COVID-19 (fever, cough, difficulty breathing, or sore throat).
  • Restaurant service will no longer be offered on the vessels (retail shops, snack bars and bar service have already been closed). A pre-packaged box lunch will be provided to all customers.

These measures are being introduced to allow us to meet our guiding principles of protecting the health and safety of customers and employees, while maintaining our essential ferry link.

We thank customers for their understanding and cooperation during these challenging times. We will continue to work with health professionals and make additional adjustments to our operational policies and procedures, as required.
