We Remember

Whether it was the Royal Newfoundland Regiment that bravely fought during World War I, the valiant Nova Scotian highland regiments that were an integral part of World War II, the peacekeepers whose efforts protect civilians in war zones or the thousands of military personnel who serve our country today, your efforts are valued and we say thank you.

Marine Atlantic is proud that two of our vessels honour those who have fought for freedom: the MV Blue Puttees, a nickname for the Royal Newfoundland Regiment and the MV Highlanders, honouring the Highland regiments of Nova Scotia.

While COVID-19 has impacted the traditional ways of honouring our veterans this Remembrance Day, please join with us in a moment of silence and remember all those who have sacrificed so much for our freedom and democracy. We also encourage you to visit the online virtual memorials page on Veterans Affairs Canada’s website to honour our fallen soldiers and tour sites including Beaumont Hamel and Vimy Ridge. Lest we forget.
