Proud of our History – MV Seatrader

Marine Atlantic, its predecessor CN Marine, and pre-confederation Newfoundland coastal boats have a strong and proud history serving the people of Atlantic Canada through ferry terminals, passenger vessels and rail service.

A railcar ferry chartered to help transport the increased amount of freight being shipped between Nova Scotia and Newfoundland, the vessel measured 142 metres and could travel at speeds of 16 knots. With a gross tonnage of 2964, large open deck space for freight and the ability to carry approximately 65 passengers, the vessel provided short-term assistance during a period of change in how goods were shipped across the Cabot Strait.
