We’re thrilled to be a Champion Partner and Journey Supporter of the Orangestore 2025 Canada Games Torch Relay. As the torch travels from Parliament Hill in Ottawa to the host city of St. Johns, NL, Marine Atlantic will proudly welcome the Roly McLenahan torch on board, offering our guests a memorable sailing on June 28. We look forward to connecting athletes, their families, and sports fans to the province throughout the games in summer of 2025.
Meet Our Torch Bearers

David Keats
Outdoorsman and Family Man
For over 21 years, David has been a valued member of the Marine Atlantic team, currently serving as a Stevedore. Based in Port aux Basques, David is a true outdoorsman at heart, happiest when he's deep in the woods hunting, fishing, or trekking along scenic hiking trails.
In his earlier years, David was an avid runner, regularly competing in races that tested both endurance and determination-traits that continue to define him today. His love for nature and adventure extends beyond his backyard; David is always up for travelling and discovering new places.
Family is central to David's life. He is the proud father of three and a grandfather to two. When he's not exploring the great outdoors or planning his next trip, David enjoys the loyal companionship of his beloved golden doodle, Rocco, who shares his enthusiasm for long hikes and the great outdoors.

Cheryl Macintosh
Lifelong Ocean Enthusiast
Based in North Sydney, Assistant Steward, Cheryl brings over two decades of dedication to her role at Marine Atlantic, where she has proudly served for 24 years. Her deep-rooted love for the ocean has not only shaped her career path but also defined much of her personal journey.
From a young age, Cheryl immersed herself in the world of sports. A competitive swimmer and avid sailor in her youth, she found early on that the water was where she truly belonged. This connection to the sea eventually guided her to Marine Aflantic.
Cheryl is also an accomplished bagpipe player, often sharing her musical skills at community events. Outside of work, she is a passionate community member, having volunteered her time supporting local schools and autism initiatives. Family is most important to Cheryl, she enjoys spending time at the beach with her husband Glen and their three sons— Adam, Cory, and David. Her eldest, Adam, has been a particularly strong supporter of her career, famously waving to her ship each day she's at sea-a gesture that continues to inspire Cheryl's pride in her work.
