Properties and Observations

Alcoholic solution of ethyl nitrite. Extremely volatile, with an aromatic, ethereal odour. Explosive limits of the pure product: 3% to 50%. Boiling point of pure product: 17°C. Miscible or partially miscible with water. Decomposes under exposure to air, light, water or heat to evolve toxic nitrous fumes. Toxic if swallowed, by skin contact or by inhalation. Inhalation of ethyl nitrite vapours, even in small quantities, rapidly affects the heart and can be dangerous. Transport of ETHYL NITRITE pure is prohibited.
